When you live in Brickell Miami, you have easy access to the beach whenever you want and most of the luxury condos in the area have sparkling pools and cabanas to help beat the heat during hot Florida summers (and springs, and falls and winters.) But in order to live in a place where you can get cool and refreshed whenever you want, you’ve got to do the house hunting first. And unless you do it the right way, you’re in for a long day in the heat. But it doesn’t have to be that way. Here are three ways to make it through the condo-hunting process in Florida without dying of heat exhaustion or even breaking a sweat.
All about timing
If possible, schedule your tours and walk-throughs in the evenings or early in the mornings before the hottest part of the day. Although using your lunch break to pop into potential buildings, you’ll go back to work a hot, sweaty mess. Stick with mornings and evenings to make the house hunting process more bearable.
Be smart about location
If you’re scheduling a few walk-throughs in one day, plan your day so that each property you visit is close to the next property you plan to visit. This will not only save on gas, but will limit the amount of time you’re in a car and sitting in traffic.
Pack Smart
If you know you’re going to be out all day, put a cooler filled with ice in your backseat and stock it with waters and healthy snacks. This way, you’ll be able to reach back and grab an ice cold water in between house visits, and it’ll cool you down way faster than a bottle of water sitting in your cup holder and quickly heating up. Throwing a fan or bottle of water in your purse or backpack will also help cool you down while walking through multiple units a day. If you’re touring new-construction sites, keep in mind there might not be AC and plan accordingly to stay hydrated and cool.
If living in Miami is the end goal, then house hunting in the heat is a good way to get used to the above average temperatures that Miami is famous for. But if you do it right — or get in touch with a Realtor experienced in luxury real estate — then it can be a relaxing and enjoyable experience. Once the house hunting is over, you’ll be the happy (and cool) owner of a luxury Miami property and can jump in your own private penthouse pool, lounge in the condo’s rooftop pool, nap in a private poolside cabana or throw on your flip flops and cool off in the ocean.
